Day Three · Words to Return To

Where You Went

The place you run to when you leave

If today’s words are ones you want to sit with again, you’ll find them here — just as they were spoken. Read them slowly. Return to them whenever you need.

The Opening

Hi. It’s Sayamol. Day three. You’re still here — that matters more than you know.

Yesterday you caught the moment you leave yourself. The overpay. The half-second you set your own need down and pick up someone else’s. Today we follow that leaving. Because here’s the thing nobody tells you — when you leave yourself, you don’t just disappear into nothing. You go somewhere. You run to a specific place. And you’ve been running there your whole life.

So let’s settle first. Close your eyes. Breathe in love… and breathe out what no longer serves you. Breathe in your authentic self… and breathe out who you had to be.

— pause —

When the feeling gets to be too much — when you’re hurt, or scared, or you need something you’re afraid to need — you have a move. A place you go. And it’s so automatic you might not even see it as a place. It just feels like you.

For some of us, we disappear into doing. We get busy. We fix things. We take over so we never have to sit still long enough to feel. For some of us, we disappear into pleasing — we make everyone okay so nobody looks too close to us. For some of us, we go numb — we reach for alcohol, or food, or shopping, or doom-scrolling, or another episode, anything to leave our own body for a while. And for some of us, we disappear into being impressive — we become so competent, so put-together, that no one ever sees the part of us that’s still scared.

— pause —

Maybe it’s one of those. Maybe it’s something only you know. I want you to name it out loud. Not to judge it. To see it.

— pause —

Every place you run is a place you once learned to survive. It made sense then. It got you through. But here’s what I want you to notice today — every time you go there, you leave someone behind.

Every time you disappear into that place… the younger you is the one left waiting. The one who was there before any of it — before you learned to earn your place, before you learned love was something you had to work for. Just yourself: open, whole, not performing for anyone.

No matter how far you’ve run… your younger self is still there.

— pause —

And I need you to know — that wasn’t weakness. That was strength. It took so much courage for that younger part of you to survive something you didn’t choose. You protected yourself before you even had the words for it.

Those tools protected you. We’re not taking them away today. We’re simply beginning to notice them. That’s all. Just seeing where you go.

— pause —

Because the place you’ve been looking for isn’t where you’ve been running. It’s who you’ve been running from.

Breathe in love… and breathe out the running. That younger part of you is still there. It never left. It’s simply been waiting for you to stop running long enough to notice it again.

When you’re ready, turn the page. I’ll meet you at the end of the day.

The Closing

You did really well today. I mean that. Most people spend their whole lives running and never stop long enough to see the place they’ve been running to — and today, you saw it. You saw the younger you, too. Still waiting on the other side of all that running.

So just breathe for a second. That part of you isn’t gone. It never was.

Today, you noticed where you go when life feels like too much. Tomorrow… we’ll discover why you learned to go there in the first place.

I’ll see you tomorrow.
